Axtell Nebraska baseball 1893 town team

As you can see from the postcard above Axtell Nebraska has a long baseball history. The team photo above is dated 1893.

Axtell is a town of about 700. It is between Minden and Holdrege along highway 6/34. It is known as the Windmill City for the large number of windmills in the city.

The current ball diamond is on the north side of town. It has a dirt infield and another smaller diamond is nearby. The field is lighted with a pretty good stand of outfield grass. There are a few bleacher seats and a nice outbuilding with a concession stand.
